MEET IAN CRESSWELL, A CHIEF EIR AT THE HOUSE OF DEEPTECH
WHERE IS YOUR HOMETOWN?
Originally from a small town in the West Country in the UK, I moved to Luxembourg in the mid-80s and have therefore spent more time living in Europe than in the UK. I now like to think of myself as being European as this is very much my home.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR PREVIOUS WORKING EXPERIENCES THAT YOU BRING TO YOUR ROLE AS EIR?
Graduating as a Chemist, I spent more than 25 years working in industry. I soon moved into management roles and then took on the management of large-scale investment projects for several large US corporations, which necessitated my move to Luxembourg in the mid-80’s.
After this, I was an entrepreneur and created my own start-up company. This was followed by a move to the Luxembourg National Innovation Agency where I spent the last nearly 20 years. This enabled me to bring together all the experience that I had gained in order to advise and counsel companies from start-ups to multinational corporations whilst learning how governments worked actively to promote economic growth and development.
For highly regulated industries this provides pathways to connect with KOLs and influencers that can influence market access and non dilutive access to Government export or grant programs for economic development for our founders.
